In April 2024, Intertek Group implemented the BAP standard audit on Qingdao Qicai Seed Technology Co., LTD. After a professional on-site audit and technical assessment, Qicai Seed obtained the BAP(Best Aquaculture Practice) certificate issued by GSA(Global Aquaculture Alliance). Following the first morray cod farm in the world to pass BAP certification, Qicai Seed became the first morray cod nursery farm in the world to pass BAP certification. At this point, Qicai Seed has obtained three of the four complete certifications required by BAP, and the representative farms, nursery farms and combined feed mills have passed the BAP audit and certification.

BAP certification represents an important step towards sustainability in the aquaculture industry. It not only helps to protect the environment, promote social responsibility and promote animal welfare, but also ensures food safety and quality and provides consumers with healthy and sustainable seafood choices.

Established in March 2017, Qingdao Qicai Seed Technology Co., LTD. is an innovative high-tech enterprise founded by a scientific research team from Ocean University of China. Qicai operates the entire industry chain of land-based recirculating aquaculture system fisheries, including research and development, breeding, processing, sales, and services.

Currently, Qicai has more than 7,000 parental fish of murray cod aged 8-12 years, rendering it the largest enterprise in the world in terms of the storage of murray cod broodstock. In 2021, Qicai passed the provincial-level qualification acceptance as the "Qingdao Murray Cod Breeding Farm". In 2022, the “Murray cod Large-scale Fully Artificial Breeding Technology and Industrial High-density Circulating Water Culture Technology” broke through by Qicai research team were recognized as internationally leading. And our bred murray cod was selected for the "National Famous and Excellent New Agricultural Products" in 2023. In the same year, Qicai passed BAP certification, becoming the first murray cod farm in the world to obtain BAP certification. In 2024, Qicai became the "Raw Material Farm for Export of Aquatic Products".

Best Aquaculture Practices(BAP), founded by the Global Seafood Alliance (GSA), is the world's most widely recognized third-party international certification. Adhere to practical, scientific and constantly improving standards for the entire aquaculture supply chain (including farms, nursery farms, processing plants and feed plants) rigorous independent assessment, BAP will be based on quality management and risk assessment, covering food safety, environmental sustainability, social responsibility, animal health and welfare, traceability five aspects. Ensure responsibility in all aspects of aquaculture and ensure that consumers are provided with healthy, environmentally and socially responsible fish products.

    Third-party auditors arrive at the production site to conduct production environment assessment, record review, personnel interview, and immediately sample products and water for inspection, and the production enterprise must rectify all found nonconformities before obtaining certification. After the certification, the company can use the BAP "little blue label" on the product packaging.

As a widely trusted international professional aquaculture standard, BAP certification directly supports three of the five major actions of green aquaculture in China. BAP certification through the strict review of aquatic experts independent of the buyer and seller of the product, has been highly recognized worldwide, BAP certified aquatic products can be preferentially entered the Wal-Mart, Carrefour, Freshppo, JD, Yonghui and other large catering, supermarket, retail procurement system.
