1. Totally artificial breeding fry of Murraycod

         Qingdao Qicai Seed Industry Technology Co., Ltd. currently maintains over 7,000 high-quality 8-12 years old Murray cod broodstock. It selects high-quality broodstock from the reserve population every year to continuously renew the broodstock population.

       Starting from April, the company has processed the intensively cultured Murray cod broodstock in batches and carried out full artificial propagation work. Up to now, millions of high-quality Murray cod fry have been hatched.

2. The Full Artificial Propagation Process of Murray Cod

   1）Intensive Cultivation and Selection of Broodstock 

Select broodstock aged over 8 years for intensive cultivation. During the intensive cultivation process, use self-developed special compound feed for broodstock for intensive feeding and ensure good water quality. After a period of intensive cultivation, start to check the gonad development of the broodstock.

2）Egg Collection and Fertilization

Artificially induce spawning in broodstock with well-developed gonads, inject the corresponding dose of spawning inducer based on the broodstock's body weight, and conduct artificial egg collection and fertilization after a certain effective time.

3）Incubation、Larval Rearing

The fertilized eggs of Murray cod are hatched in a recirculating aquaculture fry system, and no feeding is required before the complete absorption of the yolk sac.

4）Fingerling Acclimatization and Cultivation

Under the condition of water temperature around 20℃, newly hatched larvae start feeding 10-13 days later. Live bait is first fed, followed by a mixture of live bait and compound feed for fry. After about 30 days of mixed feeding, feed conversion is basically completed, and compound feed is fed throughout the subsequent period.

All links of the full artificial propagation of Murray cod are preventable and controllable. The produced fry meet the SPF level, which can fundamentally eliminate the occurrence of diseases and lay a solid foundation for high-quality breeding and marketing.
